Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill becomes the first wide receiver to rank No. 1 in the league’s top 100 countdown. The ranking, which was published last Friday, listed 20 wide receivers, the most of any playing position, ahead of 17 linebackers and 16 quarterbacks.
Hill is the first wide receiver, and fourth non-quarterback (alongside Adrian Peterson, J.J. Watt, and Aaron Donald) to be ranked in the prestigious top position in the top 100 countdown, which is in its 14th edition. He was voted by peers after a spectacular season where he nearly equaled Calvin Johnson’s single-season receiving record of 1,964, with a league-leading 1,799 yards receiving in 2023.
The rest of the top 5 NFL players included Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and last year’s Number 1 Patrick Mahomes, and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
The eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro selection exceeded 1,000 yards receiving in three-quarters of his eight NFL seasons. Hill’s 2023 season also saw him score double-digit touchdown receptions (13), a feat he achieved for the third time.
