Kansas City Chiefs: Top 3 Free Agents to Target

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off yet another winning season, but only to fall short again in the playoffs. People would say they are just one or two players away from getting a shot at a Super Bowl victory. This free agency class coming up this off-season has plenty of talent to go around. The Chiefs don’t have a lot of money to spend, but they sure have enough to land some big names to help the team. Let’s take a look at some potential names that could land in Kansas City.

S Earl Thomas – The Chiefs have had their eye on Thomas this past season before he broke his leg early on in the season. He was already off to a hot start before his injury, and the Chiefs were very close to a trade to acquire Thomas. With Eric Berry not being able to play at his full potential since signing a six-year $78 million contract, the Chiefs will look into bringing in some help for the pass defense. Thomas will want some good money, so if the Chiefs go after him they will have to sacrifice another player to bring him in.

CB Bashuad Breeland – Everyone knows that the Chiefs need help on defense and primarily the secondary. Breeland has been on the Chiefs radar before and he will have the interest from Kansas City in free agency. During training camp, Breeland went on a few team visits and the Chiefs looked like the front runner to sign him. Contract talks stalled, and the Chiefs wouldn’t want to add the money Breeland was asking for. At the age of 26, he could have a huge impact on the Chiefs and help out the young talent they want to develop. It will all come down to numbers at the end of the day.

RB Tevin Coleman – Coleman is a player that I think will be a tough pick up for the Chiefs. With the loss of Kareem Hunt in the regular season, they definitely need to bring in some star talent at the running back position. One thing the Chiefs like to do though is draft talent in the late rounds and grow them into stars. If they want to bring in talent right away and have success at the position, Coleman would be a nice fit in the offense. His price tag is not going to be cheap so the Chiefs would have to put a good investment and possibly sacrifice at another position.
