There has been plenty of movement throughout NFL free agency thanks to a barrage of signings and trades. For example, Saquon Barkley is a Philadelphia Eagle, Justin Fields is a Pittsburgh Steeler, Brian Burns is a New Giant, Robert Hunt is a Carolina Panthers, and Stefon Diggs is a Houston Texan.
Oh, and free agency has been going on for less than one month. We aren’t even at the NFL Draft yet.
Read on for Emily’s analysis of the most recent NFL moves.
Stefon Diggs Traded to Houston Texans
On April 3, the Buffalo Bills traded star wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, providing another weapon for quarterback C.J. Stroud.
The Texans traded a 2025 second-round pick for a package of Diggs, a fifth-round pick, and a sixth-round pick. Houston gets a solid wide receiver while Buffalo escapes a horrible contract. However, the Bills’ wide receiver room is suddenly weakened, consisting of just Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir, and Mack Hollins. They’ll almost certainly make a couple of additions by the end of April.

Houston is Texas’ Favorite Team
Can the Dallas Cowboys be America’s Team if they’re not even the favorite team in Texas? The Cowboys have only signed one new player in free agency: former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Eric Kendricks. They re-signed four players, too: running back Rico Dowdle, offensive tackle Chuma Edoga, cornerback Jourdan Lewis, and long snapper Trent Sieg.
Lions Matched the 49ers in Free Agency
San Francisco originally offered free agent tight end Brock Wright a three-year, $12 million contract. The Detroit Lions, however, exercised their right to match that offer and were able to bring Wright back on a three-year, $12 million deal.

Commanders Sign IPP Program Participant in Free Agency
The Commanders have signed defensive lineman Haggi Chisom from the NFL’s International Player Pathway program. Chisom is originally from Nigeria and learned about football from YouTube videos. Now, he is a Washington Commander.
The big signings have come and gone, but make no mistake: NFL free agency is still in full swing. In fact, as the NFL draft approaches, look for player and pick trades to only increase.
