The Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins meet in Germany in a marquee showdown of AFC Division contenders. They have the same record and are at the top of the AFC, along with the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars. So, this game could have significant playoff implications. The Chiefs are 15-13 overall and have won three of the last five matchups.

The quarterbacks for both teams, Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa, are contenders for league MVP, and there are a plethora of other top-notch players squaring off. Tyreek Hill will be facing his old team for the first time since leaving Kansas City, and Hill is in the midst of a potentially record-breaking season, leading the league in receiving yards with 1,104 and eight receiving touchdowns.

The Chiefs will be looking to shake off last week’s loss to the Denver Broncos. Whatever went on in that game needs to disappear if the Chiefs want to have a chance against the Dolphins. At times, the Chiefs defense has been bad against the run, so that sets the stage for the possibility of Hill torching his former team. However, Miami has been scorching people with their passing game, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

On both sides of the ball, the teams are similar. The Dolphins have the number-one offense in the NFL, but remember, there is always a reason the Chiefs have home-field advantage in the playoffs. Also, the Chiefs have not lost consecutive games since 2021.

Fans expect a high-scoring game, but lately, the Chiefs have had issues getting into the endzone. Otherwise, it is a toss-up between them on who might score the victory.

What To Watch For

It will be interesting to see if Miami does have the advantage by getting to Germany earlier in the week than the Chiefs did. Some were making a big deal out of it, but Chiefs fans have to have faith that the coaches and staff know what they are doing. Fans must keep an eye on both quarterbacks, Hill, and how many sacks the defenses are getting. The defense for the Chiefs was successful in the pass rush against Denver despite the loss. With Tua having the ability to get rid of the ball quickly, it will be interesting to see if the Chiefs can stifle him.

Will this be the week Mahomes fully trusts someone other than Travis Kelce to get the ball to? Time will tell.
