The second week of the new NBA season will have at least three games featuring playoff rematches from last year. They are definitely in the list of games to watch.
Indeed, it is time to focus our attention on the new week’s schedule and pick out some of the most appealing matchups. These are games played from Oct. 30 to Nov. 5.
October 30: Miami Heat at Milwaukee Bucks
Two things will immediately come to mind when thinking about this matchup. The first will be a reminder of the Bucks being eliminated by the Heat in last season’s playoffs. Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered an injury and missed a significant portion of that series. The second will be about Damian Lillard wanting to play for Miami but somehow ending up in Milwaukee. Let’s see how Lillard handles this game.
October 31: San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix Suns
The battle between Victor Wembanyama and Bol Bol should keep everyone looking up. This one, after all, is a fight between real giants with both players reaching the 7-foor-3 mark. Another noteworthy storyline is that both teams will be playing each other twice this week. Coaches from both teams must give the people the battle they want.
October 31: New York Knicks at Cleveland Cavaliers
Cleveland’s painful memory of their first-round exit against New York raised a question: Did they improve their bench? The team’s bench unit averaged 28.7 points per game, ranking last among playoff teams. Adding Georges Niang and Emoni Bates should improve their supporting cast. Niang can shoot some threes while Bates showed he can play after his impressive Summer League performance.
November 1: Los Angeles Clippers at Los Angeles Lakers
Sooner or later, something is going to end. For this game, it might be the long winning streak that the Clippers have over the Lakers. When they face each other on Nov. 1, it will be the second game in two nights for the Clippers. The rest advantage certainly belongs to the Lakers and fans cannot wait for the streak to end.
November 1: Sacramento Kings at Golden State Warriors
Who can forget one of the best first-round series in last season’s playoffs? The “Light the Beam” Kings forced a Game 7 against the Warriors before being eliminated. Fans are going to happily take that after 16 seasons without a playoff appearance. The Kings were even up 2-0, so the chance to advance was right there. Players from both teams can still feel the buzz of excitement, which makes this game a must-see.
