The football gods were not kind enough to give the fans the matchup they wanted between Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. While it is important to acknowledge that Zach Wilson is not looking ready to be at the helm for the Jets, keep in mind that they did beat the Buffalo Bills, and he played every snap except four plays. So, while it looks like an easy game for the Chiefs, you never know what might happen on the field on any given Sunday.
How can the Jets have a chance to win? One thing they can do is give Wilson more time in the pocket and call plays better suited to his skill. While Wilson is obviously having issues with being comfortable as an NFL quarterback, keep in mind he was a first-round pick for a reason. He has weapons at his disposal, and the Jets will need to have a game plan to combat the Chiefs’ defense. The defense of the Jets has weapons Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed will give the receivers for the Chiefs a difficult time, and their pass protection is one of the better ones in the NFL.
The Chiefs, while expected to come away with a victory, will not be taking the Jets lightly. The receiving core for Kansas City has been a little slow to gel together, but they are coming along. Will the Jets be a strong opponent? On defense, yes. However, the Chiefs’ defense will continue to be on a roll and will look to pressure Wilson, who is currently last in completion percentage (52.4). If Kansas City can continue to pressure with the defense and slow the ability for the Jets to rush, then Mahomes and the offense will be able to do their thing.

Without Rodgers in the lineup for the Jets, the Chiefs are heavily favored to win. They may also have a difficult time scoring against the Chiefs’ defense.
What To Watch For
Look for the Jets to play their best defense against the Chiefs. They know what they are up against, and if they can make life easier for Wilson, they might have a chance to be in the game. With the host of weapons Mahomes has at his fingertips, we might see the ball spread around more to find a way around the Jets’ defense.
It should be a good defensive game between the teams. With both teams having weapons on either side of the ball, the edge is tipped in favor of the Chiefs, thanks to them having Mahomes.
