The 2022 NFL preseason is rapidly approaching, with team practices growing more intense by the day. Coming off an offseason for the ages that changed not only the complexion of individual teams, but both the AFC and NFC as a whole. Many things will look quite different from a season ago. It’s the perfect time for the fourth annual edition of Three Burning Questions. As is years past, this 32-part series will look at the three most pressing questions facing each of the 32 teams. Here are the Three Burning Questions for the Buffalo Bills.

Can They Establish a Formidable Rushing Attack Outside of Josh Allen?
As good as the reigning back-to-back AFC East Division Champions have been (especially offensively), the running game has been an area of concern. Quarterback Josh Allen himself tallied 763 yards rushing. The backfield tandem of Devin Singletary and Zack Moss combined for over 1,100 yards on the ground. While the numbers are nothing to balk at, the duo was inconsistent at best. They were more effective somewhat against the worst run defenses, as expected. Buffalo drafted Georgia running back James Cook in the second round, the younger brother of Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook. Cook could be the missing link for the Bills running game.
Third Straight AFC East Title?
When a team wins the division title two years in a row, they are the odds on favorite to do it again. While the other three teams in the AFC East hope their own offseason moves will allow them to catch and surpass the Bills, Buffalo’s nucleus is still intact for the most part. They replaced slot receiver Cole Beasley who they lost in free agency with a pair of veteran receivers, Jamison Crowder and Tavon Austin. They bolstered the left side of the offensive line by adding former Tennessee Titans left guard Rodger Saffold. All the makings of a safe bet to win the division, again.
Will the New Defensive Additions Get Them Past Their Kryptonite?
The biggest offseason addition defensively for the Bills was eight-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Super Bowl Champion linebacker Von Miller. Miller joins the linebacking corps of Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds. Defensive tackle Daquan Jones was added in free agency. The team drafted cornerback Kaiir Elam out of Florida to shore up their already stout secondary of Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde, and Tre’Davious White. All these additions were made with one thing in mind. To get past the Kansas City Chiefs, who they have not been able to conquer in the last two postseasons. From the front four to their safeties, the defense will compliment the Buffalo Bills’ explosive, high scoring offense quite nicely.
