Top 5 Non Prime-Time Matchups for NFL 2022-23

NFL Schedule Release 2022

With the NFL schedule being released, it’s time to look at the best NFL games that are not featured in prime-time. With the league providing a lot of great matchups this year, there is no shortage of great games. However, we have to give thanks to the college teams that have produced the most amount of talent this league has ever seen. In contrast, fans also have to look at this wild offseason, which has opened the door to a massive amount of player movement between teams. While some teams got worse, many teams are loaded up to try to win Super Bowl LVII. With prime-time games being something people love to talk about, it’s time to look at the best games that did not make the prime-time slate.

Week 1: Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers

After a massive trade with the Packers, the Raiders brought in Davante Adams this offseason. Las Vegas reworked their entire offensive line and gave Derek Carr better weapons on offense and defense. It is looking bright for the team. However, the one wild card is how well new head coach Josh McDaniels will do in his second go around. At the same time, with an offseason that saw Khalil Mack and J.C. Jackson being added to the team, the Chargers are terrifying.  With Week 1 kicking off with an AFC West showdown, it’s one game that is a must-watch. Furthermore, with Los Angeles being the better team, expect the final score to be 28-14 in favor of the Chargers.

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams

The Cowboys are traveling to California to play the Rams in Week 5, and it is a showdown that should have significant implications. Dallas needs to show that they are a competent franchise and can compete deep into the playoffs. The matchup against the Rams is the perfect time to show out. With the game being a measuring stick for the Cowboys, a win or a loss has massive implications for how well the postseason will go. However, it’s most likely that the Cowboys will fall to the defending Super Bowl champions after a challenging game. While the Rams escape with a win, expect a high-scoring game. Unfortunately for Cowboy fans, Dallas loses by a score of 30-21.

Week 7: Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers

It is a matchup to watch with the Chiefs heading to San Francisco to face the 49ers. With both teams looking to compete for the Super Bowl this year, the matchup demands attention. However, there is a big question mark on the Niners’ side. Jimmy Garoppolo is still on the roster, as the team has yet to trade him. Additionally, with Trey Lance waiting for his opportunity to become the starter, it does not look like it will be this year. Either way, the Chiefs and 49ers have a history of facing each other, which won’t change in Week 7. San Francisco does fall to the visiting Chiefs, 24-17.

Week 8: Las Vegas Raiders at New Orleans Saints

The Saints host the Raiders in a huge Week 8 showdown. While New Orleans might have the best defense in the league next year, they go against a formidable offensive machine. Expect the game to go one of two ways: Either a very low-scoring game where neither offense can get going or a blowout win in favor of the Saints. With New Orleans hoping they can represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, they should be a feared opponent. However, it is a dominant defensive win for the Saints, with the final score being 14-3.

Week 17: Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

With Kansas City hosting the Broncos, there will be a ton of offense behind it. Each team has a very explosive offense and an excellent young defense. It is a great matchup. However, it is a must-watch event with Denver pulling off a massive trade for Russell Wilson in the offseason. Wilson and Patrick Mahomes face off in a much-anticipated matchup that will see fireworks. Most people expect this game to be very high-scoring that sees a ton of touchdowns. The Broncos escape with a win, the final score being 42-37 in favor of Denver.
