Fantasy Football Week 18 Busts

Fantasy Football Busts 2021 season

Fantasy football season is over for many, but some leagues choose to play through Week 18. During this week, it may be tough to navigate which players will be resting and saving themselves for the playoffs or next season. Regardless, choosing the players who will succeed and benching the ones who will not is essential to winning in fantasy football. Each week, fantasy owners will have to make the tough decision to put a player they like on the bench because the truth is that player is a bust. The willingness to do so is what separates good managers from bad ones. Let’s take a look at five players who could bust in Week 18.

Tua Tagovailoa – QB, Miami Dolphins (vs NE)

Tagovailoa has been a serviceable fantasy quarterback, but has struggled in recent weeks. The second-year quarterback is averaging 14.1 fantasy points this season. This week, the Dolphins are facing the New England Patriots who have been excellent against the pass. They have allowed the fourth-fewest passing yards per game this season. If the Patriots’ defense continues its success, Tagovailoa may not succeed in Week 18.

Najee Harris – RB, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs BAL)

Harris was good last week against the Cleveland Browns for fantasy purposes, scoring 29.6 fantasy points. However, this week the Steelers are facing a tough run defense in the Baltimore Ravens. Even with extensive injuries, they have held opponents to the least amount of rushing yards this season. Harris may struggle for fantasy purposes against the tough rush defense in Week 18.

Cordarrelle Patterson – RB/WR, Atlanta Falcons (vs NO)

Patterson has been a late-round/waiver wire steal for many fantasy owners this year. The 30-year-old has taken on a multi-position role and thrived for fantasy purposes. Patterson had only two single-digit fantasy weeks through Week 14 but has not scored double-digits since. The New Orleans Saints have also been outstanding on defense, holding opponents to the eighth-fewest yards per game. With recent struggles and a tough matchup, Patterson can not be trusted against the Saints.

D.J. Moore – WR, Carolina Panthers (vs TB)

Moore was excellent during the early portion of the year, but much like Patterson, has not produced well recently. With the Panthers’ offense struggling, Moore has not been impressive; his highest-scoring performance since Week 4 has been 16.0 fantasy points. Moore’s lack of upside due to offensive troubles may mean more gloom in Week 18.

Kyle Pitts – TE, Atlanta Falcons (vs NO)

Pitts has been disappointing, but still solid in fantasy football this year. The rookie tight end has scored an average of 10.9 fantasy points per game but has only found the end zone once. The Saints have been excellent on defense this year and if Pitts can not score a touchdown, he may be unable to produce well for fantasy owners in Week 18.
