Choosing the players who will succeed and benching the ones who will not is essential to winning in fantasy football. Each week, fantasy owners will have to make the tough decision to put a player they like on the bench because the truth is that player is a bust. The willingness to do so is what separates good managers from bad ones. Let’s take a look at five players who could bust in Week 12.
Aaron Rodgers – QB, Green Bay Packers (vs LAR)
Rodgers has been a good starting quarterback in fantasy football this year. The veteran has averaged 19.9 fantasy points per game so far. However, the Packers are facing a tough Los Angeles Rams defense this week. The Rams have allowed the seventh least points to quarterbacks they have faced making Week 12 a challenging matchup for Rodgers.
Leonard Fournette – RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs IND)
Fournette has emerged as a top back since Week 4 scoring double-digit fantasy points in six of the seven weeks since then. In Week 12 however, he could find himself scoring single-digits once again. The Indianapolis Colts defense has been outstanding against the run all season. They have allowed the second-least fantasy points to opposing running backs and could hold Fournette to a mark below his standard on Sunday.
Damien Harris – RB, New England Patriots (vs TEN)
Harris has been a decent running back for fantasy football managers, but he has had his ups and downs. Through 11 weeks, the Patriots’ back has averaged 11.8 fantasy points per game. The Patriots are facing the Tennessee Titans this week and both teams’ offenses could slump. The Titans have allowed the fourth-fewest points to running backs they have faced and have won games through their physical play style. If the Patriots struggle to find the endzone, it is likely Harris will bust this week.
Jerry Jeudy – WR, Denver Broncos (vs LAC)
Jeudy has only played four games this year and has not been particularly impressive. The second-year wideout is only averaging 11.3 fantasy points per game in the four he has played. Jeudy’s fantasy struggles could continue into Week 12 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers have been excellent against the pass. Opposing receivers have been held to the second-fewest fantasy points so far this year. If the Chargers continue their defensive prowess, Jeudy’s mediocre fantasy play will repeat in Week 12.
Tyler Conklin – TE, Minnesota Vikings (vs SF)
Filling in for an injured Irv Smith Jr., Conklin has been a respectable tight end this season. He is averaging just under ten fantasy points per game and has had a couple of big 15+ fantasy point performances. However, in Week 12, the Vikings are facing the San Francisco 49ers in an important matchup. The 49ers have a run-heavy style of offense and try to take plenty of time off the clock on each drive. If the 49ers run the ball well against a Vikings defense that has struggled against the run, the Vikings could see less time on offense. Additionally, Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen demand a majority of targets meaning Conklin could struggle if the 49ers can execute their game plan.
