The Daily Dollar: NFL Best Bets for Week 9 (11/7)

It’s time for a Week 9 dose of the Daily Dollar, where we are all about NFL big bucks and no whammies. Week 8 played out just fine, with a 2-1-1 record. I did not expect the Houston Texans to push against the Los Angeles Rams, but hey, the bookmakers usually know what they’re doing. Having said that, there are always misses on the Vegas lines, and we are here to exploit them. Let’s find the bargains that the bookies missed on. For the second week in a row, there are big lines that are not nearly big enough. Go get ‘em.

Dallas Cowboys -10 (-110) vs Denver Broncos

The Cowboys are 6-0 since dropping the NFL season opener to Tampa Bay. They are third in the league in passing yards, second in rushing yards, and first in total yards per game. That’s… pretty good. Dak Prescott is averaging over 300 yards per game with 16 touchdowns, and Ezekiel Elliott has 699 total yards with 6 touchdowns. That’s despite his backfield mate Tony Pollard having an outstanding season.

The Broncos’ vaunted defense is strong but susceptible, thanks (in part) to the offense’s inability to stay on the field and give them a breather. With team leader Von Miller now in Los Angeles, Denver is clearly giving up on the season. Security blanket Noah Fant is out, and Dallas’ much-maligned defense is lined up to have a day. The Cowboys are going to (literally) run away with this by more than two touchdowns.

Book it: Cowboys -10 points (-110)

Buffalo Bills -14.5 (-110) at Jacksonville Jaguars

I don’t normally bet on any team in the NFL as more than a 13-point favorite. However, as spread offenses continue to infiltrate the league, it’s tough to ignore. In this case you’ve got a not good/very bad/poorly coached Jaguars team hosting a Super Bowl contender. Buffalo is very possibly the proverbial cream of the AFC crop. They should have blown Miami out of the water last week (they won 26-11), and I think they know it. The Bills’ defense is no joke this season and is finally getting some of the recognition it deserves. They are going to do to Jacksonville what they should have done in the Miami game: Keep the pedal to the metal. This is a blowout in the making in Duval, as Buffalo might put up a 40-burger.

Book it: Bills -14.5 points (-110)

Tennessee Titans at Los Angeles Rams o52 (-110)

Believe it or not, there is an upside to Derrick Henry being out for the Titans, and it’s for bettors. The Los Angeles defense is outstanding, allowing just 18.6 points per game, but that means Tennessee is going to have to throw the ball. On the other side, the Titans are giving up 24.5 points per game, though that includes a completely random affair where they shut down the Kansas City Chiefs to the tune of three points. That was out of script for the Chiefs, and the Tennessee defense is not good. It’s going to take air yards from Ryan Tannehill, but with A.J. Brown and Julio Jones each on the field, the Titans will be able to put desperation points on the board while trying to play catch-up.

The Rams rank just 19th in rushing. They throw the ball with Matthew Stafford, Robert Woods and league-leader Cooper Kupp a lot. They will score a ton early, and find a few extra scores in the second half, but the Titans are going to make a game of it late. It should be a high-scoring, fun Sunday Night Football AFC-NFC battle.

Book it: Titans and Rams over 52 points scored

Sunday Funday is here! I know you are all like me, waiting all week long for the next opportunity to feast on football. I hope your teams win (unless you’re a Cleveland fan), but let’s all add to our excitement by building fat stacks to roll into Week 10. Good luck, everyone, and see you next week.

Gates Top NFL Team From Week 11 (2024)

Week 11 in the NFL brought more chaos, with at least five games on Sunday being decided by a single score. Notably, the Green Bay Packers and Indianapolis Colts won their games by just one point. As a result of their performance, the Buffalo Bills have earned the title of our NFL Team of the Week for the second time this season, having previously received this honor in Week 8.
