The Boston Bruins are in desperate need of scoring depth.
We learned last season just how incredible their top two lines can be with stars such as Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak leading the way, but the Bs need more out of their bottom two lines.
Many credit the banged up defense for the Bruins early playoff exit. The blue line injuries certainly played a role in their downfall, but lack of production out the third and fourth lines was a problem.
Sure they ran into a red-hot Ottawa defense, but with the Senators keying in on the Black and Gold’s stars, others need to step up.
Potential rookie stars are on the way in Boston, but they shouldn’t be relied on. Players such as Ryan Spooner and Frank Vatrano need to start contributing to the flow of the offense.
Ryan Spooner, David Backes, Frank Vatrano, Dominic Moore, Riley Nash, Kevan Miller, Tim Schaller, and Matt Beleskey combined were outscored by Marchand and Pastrnak’s combined goals.
Stanley Cup champions rely on depth, especially in the playoffs. The Bruins need more productions out of their depth if they want to make a playoff run.
