Tennessee Titans True or False: August Edition

Tennessee Titans

The calendar has flipped to August. For fans of the NFL, it means football through February. As teams are gearing up for the rapidly approaching regular season, it’s time for the final edition of Tennessee Titans True or False until the offseason returns.

Is the Top Three Receivers are enough

True. Any receiving corp that boasts A.J. Brown, Julio Jones, and Josh Reynolds is a dangerous and one of the most formidable trio of receivers, in the league. While the offense is still expected to run through Derrick Henry on the ground, these three are all capable of big plays. Camp standout Dez Fitzpatrick will also get his opportunities as well. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill who has rarely gotten rattled in his tenure with the Titans will have an even easier time this season.

There’s Still a Chance They Add a Pro Bowl Tight End?

False. A month ago the prospect of the Titans acquiring Zach Ertz from the Philadelphia Eagles seemed more like a when as opposed to if. Now it’s the opposite. Barring any change to the fizzled-out talks between the Eagles and the interested teams, Ertz stays in Philly at least for now. But if their season does go according to plan he may be moved prior to the trade deadline.

Does that Open the Door for a Former Fan Favorite?

False. Fans are leery with Anthony Firkser being the every-down tight end. A fan favorite, former Titans Delanie Walker is still on the free-agent market. But a reunion isn’t likely. Although Walker says he’s 100 percent, an ankle injury as severe as his is realistically never going to be the same. If the Titans were interested he’d already be signed at this point. Unless they can acquire Ertz, they are standing firm with the guys they already have at the position.

Taylor Lewan will be Ready for Week 1?

True. The three-time Pro Bowl selection tore his ACL in October and missed the rest of the season. So far in training camp, he looks like he’ll be ready for Week 1. Lewan, himself says he feels great and even better than before. He will be back protecting Tannehill’s blindside and setting the edge for Henry, which is as vital a piece as there is on this team, for the way their offense expects to have success.
