Detroit Lions True or False: July Edition

Detroit Lions True or False

As we trudge through the NFL offseason, the news has come to a slowdown. While we wait for training camp to begin, there is still lots to discuss in the NFL world. This includes the Detroit Lions. Recently, they announced Ford Field would be at maximum capacity for the upcoming season, and you do not have to be vaccinated to attend. This is certainly exciting for Lions fans as they finally get to see their team in action once again.

Is T.J. Hockenson Set up for a Breakout Year?

True. Hockenson is obviously already a very good player in this league but his potential this year seems off the charts. There is a very good chance that Hockenson logs double-digit touchdown numbers, simply due to how bad the wide receiver core is, and the style in which new quarterback Jared Goff plays with. The player who has been described as Baby-Gronk should finally live up to these comparisons full-time, and establish himself as one of the top tight ends in the NFL.

Can the Lions Win Over Four Games?

False. Even though they finished last in the division last season, Detroit’s schedule is actually very difficult. They aren’t favored in any game by Vegas and really the only possible lock is the game at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. They honestly may not even win two games, but with the young core and fiery new coach, they have they should be able to upset a few teams here and there. All in all, it’s going to be another struggle for Lions fans in 2021.

Can we Expect a Rebound from Jeff Okudah

True. Okudah was one of the most disappointing rookies last year after being the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Starting as a rookie cornerback in the NFL, however, is one of the hardest things to do. Yes, Okudah played pretty poorly all of last year, but the flashes he showed were really all we needed to see. He’s gained some serious experience against real NFL receivers and now looks to break out into a lockdown cornerback within the next few seasons.

The Lions Rank Top-20 in Either Offense or Defense?

False. If you haven’t guessed by now, this team isn’t a very good one. They do have a lot of young players that can bud into stars, but it’s not a complete enough roster to rank top-20 in either. Where they will be top of the league is in running the football. For the first time in forever, the Lions have a legitimate running back in D’Andre Swift and he’s behind an excellent offensive line. Overall, the rankings won’t be good, but there are some things to look forward to this season.
