Jacksonville Jaguars True or False: June Edition

Jacksonville Jaguars

It’s that time of year, the weather is getting warm, no football being played, other sports drawing to a close, and baseball season is in full swing. Add to that for the first time in over a year fans are beginning to be welcomed back to stadiums and arenas at full capacity, which couldn’t come at a better time with the NFL season less than 100 days from kicking off.

Here’s a look at the June Edition of the Jacksonville Jaguars True or False

Author’s note: This monthly piece will reassess some of the questions from previous installments and new ones will be addressed.

Trevor Lawrence will have Immediate Success?

True. This one is still true. Lawrence has a young team around him that was pretty much rebuilt from the ground up just to help him succeed. The comparison to Peyton Manning that he has heard whole great praise for any quarterback, Lawrence looks like, while he may not be Manning Jr., he also won’t be compared to the likes of Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, or JaMarcus Russell.

The Jaguars will be a Contender?

False. The team at least on paper is much-improved personnel-wise. However, they are in the AFC which already possesses the usual list of annual playoff teams. But the Jaguars could hover around the .500 mark throughout the season and maybe close to that mark at the season’s end, which would be a drastic improvement on last season’s one victory. But with two playoff teams from last season coming out of the AFC South, who are both looking for similar results, third place in the division regardless of their record will be the likely end of season mark.

Tim Tebow will Exclusively play Tight end?

False. The man, the myth, the legend that is Tebow signed with Jacksonville to play tight end. The team and their fans have embraced the former NFL starting quarterback. It’s possible he will play a majority of his snaps at tight end, he could also be used in some capacity the way the New Orleans Saints have used Taysom Hill in the past.

Urban Meyer will Suffer the same fate as Nick Saban?

False. This one is still false. The Jaguars’ new head coach to this point is saying and doing everything right. While it’s also false that the team will be playing in Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles come February, Meyer will bring a mentality that will translate throughout the clubhouse. Expect the Jaguars to be in many close games, with a chance to win those games late. More realistic for Meyer and his team will be to be contenders a season from now, but playing spoiler to a potential playoff team or two, in the waning weeks of this season, will be likely and would give them something to build off of.
