Real Madrid Officially Appoints New Manager

Real Madrid Appoints New Manager

Last week, Zinedine Zidane resigned as manager of Real Madrid. Unfortunately, Zidane did not leave the club on good terms, as his decision to quit is apparently due to a lack of trust. Furthermore, Zidane went on to criticize the club, as well as the club’s president, Florentino Perez.

Los Blancos have found the perfect man to succeed Zidane. Carlo Ancelotti, a longtime manager who’s managed Juventus, A.C. Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Everton. In addition, he previously managed Real Madrid from 2013 to 2015, winning several titles, including the Champions League in 2014. Ancelotti is one of only three managers to win the Champions League three times. Plus, he has achieved success in Germany, France, Spain, England, and his native Italy.

Ancelotti’s move to Real Madrid comes as somewhat of a surprise. Back in February, Ancelotti expressed his desire to remain at Everton. Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte were both reportedly linked with the managerial position of Los Blancos. It’s unclear how Los Blancos were able to persuade Ancelotti to reconsider and decide to leave Everton. Nonetheless, Ancelotti and Real Madrid have agreed on a three-year deal.

A Fresh Start

For the first time since the 2009-10 season, Los Blancos failed to win a title. For both Los Blancos and Ancelotti, this is the chance for a fresh start. Ancelotti’s time with Everton didn’t go well. So he may benefit well from this move. After winning the Champions League in 2014, things started to go bad, and Ancelotti would lose his job on May 25th, 2015. This is his opportunity to rectify the situation.

In Real Madrid’s case, a falling out with a manager who’s brought success to the club as a manager and player is bad enough. Furthermore, the failure to win anything is an abject failure, considering Real Madrid’s long history of success. The club cannot allow this to happen again.
