MLB DFS: Tuesday Main Slate – Hurlers, Boppers, and Stacks

MLB DFS: Hurlers, boppers, and stacks

Taco Tuesday means lots of guac, salsa, and sour cream. It also means money to be made for MLB DFS. With a solid 10-games main slate tonight, there are plenty of players to choose from. Let’s take a look at where we want to spend up and where we can get those values.

Hurlers

* = favorite pitcher on the slate

Trevor Bauer ($10,200 DK, $11,000 FD)

Bauer gets the chance to pitch for the home faithful in Los Angeles for the first time as a member of the Dodgers. He’ll face the team he Conor McGregor strutted his way through six no-hit innings his first time out at Coors Field, the most hitter-friendly park there is.

The Los Angeles Dodgers should get plenty of run support facing Antonio Senzatela in their home ballpark. Expect Bauer to rack up the strikeouts with his lethal cutter and slider combination, and pick up a victory.

*Brandon Woodruff ($7,500 DK, $8,800 FD)*

Woodruff gets to face the same team he did last Wednesday when he took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. He was pulled after seven innings, allowing one hit, no runs, and no walks while striking out eight Chicago Cubs batters on only 74 pitches. He topped out at 98.5 mph but admitted later on that he emptied the tank in the seventh inning, losing his delivery a little at the end.

Outside of Kris Bryant (1.022 OPS), the Chicago Cubs are all out of sorts offensively. They sit bottom-five in just about every important offensive metric, including whiff rate, zone contact, and batting average. The Cubs couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat right now. Expect Woodruff to dominate them once again.

Luis Castillo ($7,100 DK, $8,400 FD)

Castillo’s velocity was down in his first outing of the season, and that led to a beating by the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals. The next time was much better, as Castillo worked seven shutout innings and struck out five Pirates. Castillo’s opponent tonight, the San Francisco Giants, don’t really scare anyone offensively. In the NL, they are next to last in batting average sitting below the Mendoza line at .192 and they are bottom five in runs scored with 31 in 10 games. The Reds right-hander will be looking to further reduce that ugly ERA.

Other Options: Max Fried, Shane Bieber, Lucas Giolito, Kyle Hendricks, Kyle Gibson (GPP ONLY)

Boppers

*SS – Corey Seager* ($5,500 DK, $3,900 FD)

The Dodgers shortstop may have slowed down a little, but there is nothing like facing a right-hander from the Rockies to get him back on track. Even though Los Angeles is at home tonight, Seager likes hitting in Dodger Stadium as shown by his career .897 OPS at Chavez Ravine. He also loves facing righties with a career .905 OPS as opposed to .773 vs. lefties. He draws Senzatela (7-for-17, 2 HRs, 6 RBI, 6 Runs) this evening who got smacked around last time he faced his division rivals. Even though Seager is the highest-priced shortstop, he is well worth the investment.

3B – Alex Bregman ($5,000 DK, $3,900 FD)

Bregman is another one who has been on the schneid lately. going 0-for-11 in his last three games. However, just like Seager, Bregman gets to turn it around tonight. He faces Matthew Boyd and the Astros third baseman eats lefties up. In an even 700 PAs against southpaws, Bregman has 49 doubles, 38 HRs, and a cool 1.014 OPS.

Other Options: Travis Shaw, Justin Upton, Zach McKinstry, Eddie Rosario

Stacks

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Antonio Senzatela

The Dodgers lit him up for seven runs on nine hits in only 3.1 innings last week. He has a career 5.07 road ERA, so it’s not like you can say he’s a much better pitcher outside of Coors Field. Smart money is on the potent Dodgers bats tonight.

Houston Astros vs. Matthew Boyd

Boyd struggles versus right-handed hitters with a career .342 wOBA, 1.74 HR/9, and 4.77 xFIP. Unfortunately for Boyd, he’s facing a lineup that terrorizes lefties. Not exactly an ideal situation for him. The Astros are off to a sizzling start, leading the majors in xBA, tied for first in homers, and sitting second in barrel rate. Stack them up however you’d like, but at the very least, get some shares of Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Yordan Alvarez, and Alex Bregman
