The Kansas City Royals, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets are in agreement on a three-team trade. The highlight of the deal is outfielder Andrew Benintendi, who is being sent from the Red Sox to Kansas City, according to MLB.com’s Jon Morosi.

Benintendi has spent the first five years of his career with the Red Sox. In those five seasons, he hit .273 with 51 home runs, 119 doubles, and 260 RBI. Benintendi is a World Series Champion, runner-up for Rookie of the Year in 2017, and a two-time Gold Glove finalist. In 2020, the former first-round draft pick played in only 14 games before suffering a season-ending rib injury. Benintendi is under club control for two years, including his final year of arbitration.

The deal, which has already been finalized, sends Franchy Cordero and two players to be named later from Kansas City to Boston. Young outfielder Khalil Lee, the Royals’ No. 8 prospect, is heading to the Mets. Meanwhile, New York is sending recently-acquired right-hander Josh Winckowski and a player to be named later to Boston, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

All three teams have confirmed the trade.
