One of the more eccentric personalities in baseball has a new home. Trevor Bauer has agreed to a three-year, option-laden deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The contract will pay the 2020 Cy Young Award winner $40 million in 2021, $45 million in 2022, and $17 million and 2023, totaling $102 million.

After a decline in the first half of 2019, Bauer was traded to the Cincinnati Reds from the Cleveland Indians where he went on to post a record of 5-4 with a 1.73 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 73 innings.

Bauer will become the second Cy Young winner in the Dodgers’ rotation as he pairs up with the one-time best pitcher in the game, Clayton Kershaw. He will join Walker Buehler, Dustin May, David Price, and Julio Urias. Bauer will compete to become the ace of the defending World Series champions.

Bauer has always been one of the more interesting characters in the game. He has drawn messages on the mound, screamed at his strikeout victims, and exercised Vince McMahon’s millionaire walk back to the dugout. His outspokenness has also drawn heat, though. Once, he threw a baseball over the center-field fence upon being pulled from the game. Bauer has never been afraid to express himself. His being in Los Angeles will allow him to grow his social media and personal brand.
