Fanelli’s Fave Five Prop Bets Special: Carolina Panthers vs. Green Bay Packers

As the 2020 season winds down, the NFL will have five total games over the next two Saturdays. One of the two games tomorrow is the 4-9 Carolina Panthers traveling to Green Bay to take on the 10-3 Packers. While the Packers are determined to win out and secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Panthers are looking to play spoilers.

The team’s fan base and fantasy football players will have their eyes glued to the game, watching every play with the utmost attention. For gamblers, their only rooting interest is whatever will lead to money in their pocket. However, which bets should they place? Here are my five favorite prop bets for tonight’s game.

Aaron Rodgers Over 2.5 Passing Touchdowns (+115)

Will the real MVP please stand up? Rodgers has been unstoppable this season, averaging three passing touchdowns per game. He has thrown three or more in 77 percent of his games, including seven of his last eight. Furthermore, Rodgers has more games this season with four passing touchdowns (five) than games with less than three (three). Meanwhile, over their last five games, the Panthers have been giving away passing touchdowns like candy on Halloween. During that span, they have given up an average of 2.8 passing touchdowns per game, giving up three or more in four of those five games. Rodgers lives for the spotlight and on primetime Saturday night, expect Rodgers to have another four-touchdown performance.

Curtis Samuel Over 4.5 Receptions (-135)

Samuel is questionable for tomorrow with a hamstring injury but should play. Assuming he is active, Samuel is in line for a big performance against the Packers. After totaling 54 receptions (3.4 per game) last season, Samuels has a career-high 61 receptions (5.1 per game) this season. Furthermore, he has five or more receptions in more than half his games this season, including four of his last five games. Meanwhile, according to Pro Football Focus, Samuels will avoid Jaire Alexander and Kevin King most of the time in this game. Given his recent success and the matchup, don’t be surprised if Samuel hits the over on this prop by halftime.

Davante Adams to Score an Anytime Touchdown (-200)

Death, taxes, and Adams scoring a touchdown every week. Adams has scored at least one touchdown in 82 percent of his games this season, including eight straight. Adams already has a career-high 14 touchdowns this season, averaging 1.3 per game. Meanwhile, the Panthers have given up three or more receiving touchdowns to wide receivers in three of their last five games, including two straight. Over their past two games, they have faced Kirk Cousins and Drew Lock. The duo has a combined 40 passing touchdowns this season compared to Rodgers’ 39. Furthermore, Adams has more games this season with two or more touchdowns (four) than games with none (two). Adams is more likely to score three times tomorrow than not at all.

Teddy Bridgewater Under 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (+101)

In his first season as the starting quarterback in Carolina, Bridgewater has played well. However, he is averaging only 1.2 passing touchdowns per game and has zero games with over two passing touchdowns. Bridgewater has thrown one or fewer touchdowns in over half his games this season. Furthermore, over the last two weeks, Bridgewater has one passing touchdown. Meanwhile, the Packers are holding quarterbacks to an average of 1.7 passing touchdowns this season. However, they have held quarterbacks to one or fewer passing touchdowns in five of their last seven games. The Packers have a good secondary and struggle to stop the run. With that in mind, expect the Panthers to run the ball, limiting Bridgewater’s passing upside. Don’t be surprised if Bridgewater finishes the game without a passing touchdown.

Robert Tonyan Over 3.5 Receptions (+108)

After 14 career receptions entering this season, Tonyan has 46 (3.5 per game) this season. However, Tonyan has four or more receptions in over half his games this season, including four straight. He has also become a trusted red zone option for Rodgers, scoring a touchdown in four straight games. Meanwhile, the Panthers have struggled to slow down tight ends this season, giving up an average of 5.8 receptions per game to the position, giving up four or more in all but one game. Furthermore, over their last six games, tight ends have at least five receptions in every contest. Don’t be surprised if Tonyan hits the over on this prop before the start of the fourth quarter.
