Why Dwyane Wade is Eager to Make the Playoffs

Jacari McRae | March 26th, 2019

Yes, Dwyane Wade would love to finish his career in the playoffs, something Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan never got the chance to do. However, there’s another reason why Wade is eager to make the postseason; he wants the younger players to gain another playoff experience under their belt.

“It’s important for the young guys to get more experience in the playoffs, so when they look at the lists of how many playoff games, me and UD are at the top and it’s a big drop-off from there,” Wade said per Ira Winderman of South Florida Sun Sentinel. “So more experience is needed for this organization going forward with this youth.”

As we all know, Wade is in the midst of his “One Last Dance” farewell tour. While exchanging jerseys with other players and signing fans’ autographs is great, Wade wants one last taste of the playoff atmosphere. He’s not only looking out for himself but the future as well. Another year of playoff experience will certainly help guys such as Josh Richardson, Justise Winslow, and Bam Adebayo in their development.

But first, Wade must lead his team there. The Miami Heat are currently clinging to the eight and final playoff spot, with the Orlando Magic just a game behind. The Charlotte Hornets are also creeping around the corner, and are just 2 games behind the eighth-seeded Heat.

Each one of the Heat’s final nine games on the regular season schedule is important, but Tuesday night’s game against the Magic could serve as a huge momentum-builder in their quest for the playoffs.
