Week 9 Preview: New England Patriots vs. New York Jets

New England Patriots

The New York Jets will get a look on prime time on Monday night as they face their division rival Patriots in a somewhat meaningless matchup. This is the first of a few meetings between the rivals in the 2020 season. Both teams are coming off brutal losses and will look to regain some steam despite being banged up.

The New England Patriots are coming off a loss to the Buffalo Bills losing by a score of 24-21. The Patriots record sits at 2-5. They continue to struggle without a solid quarterback. The Patriots are without N’Keal Harry, Sony Michel, or Julian Edelman on offense and may also be without Joe Thuney, Kyle Dugger, and Stephon Gilmore. Cam Newton only is completing 66 percent of his passes while the top earthy receiver is Damiere Byrd with 272 receiving yards on 21 receptions. Cam Newton does have 298 rushing yards on a good note with six touchdowns.

The New York Jets are coming off a loss against the Kansas City Chiefs and are also severely banged up. They lost 35-9 at the expense of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, only scoring on filled goals. Now without Sam Darnold, Bradley McDougald, Chris Hogan, Quinnen Williams, and many others, the Jets will likely be facing an 0-9 record to start the season. Denzel Mims, the rookie wide receiver out of Baylor will look to expound on his two-catch 42-yard performance in his debut. Joe Flacco will start for New York and is only completing 51.9 percent of his passes. Frank Gore is a bright spot rushing for 340 yards on 96 attempts.
