The New England Patriots continue their effort to improve their team by signing restricted free agent Mike Gillislee to a two-year/$6.4 million offer sheet.

The Florida native has rushed for 867 yards and 11 touchdowns in two seasons with the Buffalo Bills as a reserve back behind LeSean McCoy. Assuming the Bills do not match the offer. Where does Gillislee fit in the Patriots system?

The running back position seems to be well stocked with James White signing a three-year extension, Dion Lewis returning coupled with the signing of free-agent running back Rex Burkhead.

Gillislee’s versatility is one of the most attractive things about his game with some of his time spent running up the middle with immediate explosion. The 26-year-old can also catch passes out of the backfield as he added a touchdown reception to his stat sheet last season.

Time will tell what Gillislee will bring to this team but one thing is for certain. It is going to be a intriguing to watch the Patriots backfield come training camp.
