The West Virginia Roughriders stacked their roster after moving their team from Richmond, VA to Wheeling, WV. A few of the players are former West Virginia University alumni such as former running back Noel Devine and quarterback Jarrett Brown.

From the first game of the season, the Roughriders picked up where they left off in their 2018 campaign. They dominated opponents left and right all season en route to a perfect 10-0 record.

Owned and run by Gregg Fornario and Jesse Henninger respectively, the Roughriders have been to the championship game each of their first three seasons, this one coming up included. In 2017, the Roughriders defeated the Florida Tarpons to win the Arena Pro Football (APF) title. In 2018, they fell short of their second title in the inaugural American Arena League championship game to the then Atlanta Havoc.

This time, they will face another undefeated team in the Carolina Energy. The second year team enters the championship game with a 5-0 record. These two teams didn’t meet this season, but the Roughriders are 2-0 all-time against the Energy, beating them twice last season.

The second American Arena League championship game will be played at the Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling, WV this Saturday, June 29. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
