Week 3 Preview: New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts

In what should be a blowout, the New York Jets head to Indianapolis to take on the Colts. An interesting storyline in this game is that there are 12 former Colts on the Jets roster or practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game. The Colts are hoping that this could finally be the game where T.Y. Hilton gets out of his slump.

For New York, they have to find any way possible to move the football. With Le’Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder out last week, the Jets turned to Frank Gore by giving him 21 carries. This week, it will likely be more of the same, and it won’t work. Indianapolis has a young defense, but their coaching puts them above and beyond. DeForest Buckner should be able to make easy work of the offensive line and wreak havoc on Sam Darnold. With Denzel Mims, Breshad Perriman, and Crowder out, the Jets will be relying on Braxton Berrios, Chris Hogan, and Chris Herndon as Darnold’s weapons.

Indianapolis should easily handle the Jets. The rushing attack will likely be the main focus point once again as Jonathan Taylor should run all over the Jet run defense. Michael Pittman will have an expanded role with Parris Campbell getting injured last week. Due to Jack Doyle‘s injury, Mo Alie-Cox was thrown into the lineup and did a fantastic job last week. Once again, Alie-Cox will be the starting tight end as Doyle appears to be out this week as well. The Colts offensive line is one of the best in the league and should easily handle the pass rush. Even though the secondary is working out some kinks, this shouldn’t be too much of a test this week against New York’s depleted receiving core.

Moneyline: NYJ +430 | IND -630

Over/Under: O 44 (-110) | U 44 (-110)

The spread is the largest of the week and Indianapolis might blow that out of the water. The under will likely be the play this week as Indianapolis isn’t one to run up the score.

Prediction

This is one of the easiest to predict, although most said the same thing about the Colts Week 1 match against Jacksonville. Ultimately, the Jets are too much of a disaster right now to compete with Indianapolis.

Final Score: New York 10, Indianapolis 27
