Week 15 Recap: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15. After the Cardinals jumped out to a 16-0 lead, the Eagles found their rhythm and tied the game late in the fourth quarter. However, Arizona scored the game-winning touchdown, holding on to defeat Philadelphia by a score of 33-26.

Both Jalen Hurts and Kyler Murray had career performances in this game. Hurts threw for a career-high 338 passing yards and three touchdowns while adding 63 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Meanwhile, Murray threw a career-high 406 passing yards and three touchdowns, also rushing for 26 yards and another touchdown. DeAndre Hopkins caught nine passes for 169 yards and a score.

First Half

Arizona started the game on fire. After the Cardinals Hurts in the end zone for a safety, Murray ran the ball in for a touchdown and then found running back Chase Edmonds in the end zone on the next possession to give the Cardinals a 16-0 lead.

Hurts and the Eagles responded with a quick drive ending in a Quez Watkins 32-yard touchdown catch-and-run. Two possessions later, Philadelphia found paydirt again, this time courtesy of wide receiver Greg Ward. The Eagles still trailed, 19-14.

Murray and the Cardinals drove back into the red zone and hit Larry Fitzgerald for a two-yard touchdown.

Mere seconds before halftime, Hurts connected with Ward for his second touchdown of the game, cutting the score to 26-20 in favor of the Cardinals.

Second Half

The second half was far less entertaining than the first as the game remained tied for almost the entire duration. Late in the third quarter, Hurts scrambled out of the pocket and into the end zone, tying the game at 26 apiece.

After two empty possessions, the Cardinals got the ball back halfway through the fourth quarter. Murray delivered a beautiful pass down the sideline to DeAndre Hopkins, who caught the ball and held off the defender for a touchdown. The Cardinals would go on to stop the Eagles twice and win the game, 33-26.

Highlights

The Eagles drop to 4-9-1 but are not officially removed from playoff contention. They’ll play two division games over the final two weeks to fight for the right to play football in January. The Cardinals improved to 8-6 and hold the seventh seed in the NFC. They will prepare for the 49ers and Rams over the next two weeks, both must-win divisional games.
