The Kansas City Chiefs traveled to Tampa Bay to take on the Buccaneers in Week 12, and Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill each had huge games. Hill caught 13 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns while Mahomes completed 37 passes for 462 yards and four touchdowns. Kansas City jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter and rode the lead out for the duration of the game.

The Buccaneers defense played poorly most of the game, resulting in the deficit. Despite a comeback by Tom Brady late in the game, the Bucs could not get a stop on the final possession. Ultimately, the Chiefs would go on to win the game 27-24.

First Half

Kansas City started the game on fire. Mahomes connected with Hill twice for touchdowns in the first quarter–one for 75 yards and the other for 44 yards–pushing the lead to 17-0.

Just two possessions later, Tampa Bay got some momentum back after Shaquil Barrett stripped the football from Mahomes in the red zone. Following the turnover, Bucs’ running back Ronald Jones caught a pass and ran 37 yards for a touchdown, making the score 17-7. Mahomes led a quick drive right before half and the Chiefs were able to tack on another field goal. As a result, they led 20-7 with one half to play.

Second Half

After a Buccaneers’ field goal, Mahomes found Hill once again for a 20-yard touchdown. With such a large deficit, the Buccaneers needed a big play to get back in the game. That’s exactly what they got on their next offensive possession. Brady hit receiver Mike Evans for a 31-yard touchdown, making it a 27-17 game. On the Bucs’ next possession, Brady found Evans in the end zone again, making it a one-score game. Kansas City led 27-24.

They will try to add to their six-game win streak next Sunday against the Denver Broncos. On the other hand, the Buccaneers drop to 7-5 ahead of their Week 13 bye. They will have extra time to prepare for a must-win game vs the Minnesota Vikings the following week.
