USMNT Without Star as They Host Uruguay

The United States Men’s National Team will be without Christian Pulisic as he returns to London club Chelsea.

Coming off a 3-0 loss to Mexico, Pulisic flew back to England to join his side as they prepare for a crucial match next weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC.

Without Pulisic, the USMNT will have a gaping hole in their attack as they face off against an Uruguay side that has not lost a match in 2019. Head Coach Gregg Berhalter, already facing scrutiny for the national team’s horrific display against Mexico, will have a headache attempting to fill Pulisic’s spot.

Chelsea have been performing below expectations this year, placed 11th in the table after four matches played. Frank Lampard’s side need a victory against the Wolves if they want to get back into the top four race.

The 20-year-old American is not only important to the national team, but his club side as well. Pulisic has featured in all five matches Chelsea have competed in this season, finding himself a crucial role in Lampard’s system in London.

Though he has not lived up to his $73 million price tag, the American will surely settle in as his team’s performances improve.

The United States men host Uruguay this Tuesday at Busch Stadium, where the St. Louis Cardinals play their home games in Major League Baseball. It will be the second and final friendly for the USMNT’s September camp, as they hope to forget Friday’s loss against Mexico.
