Update on Marcus Cannon

The New England Patriots lost their All-Pro right tackle due to a shoulder injury in Sunday night’s victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A silver lining has reared its head for the Super Bowl champions as ESPN reporter Mike Reiss gave an update on right tackle Marcus Cannon’s condition.

Multiple reports have confirmed that the TCU alum will almost certainly miss time on the field but will not be out for the entire season.

Cannon, 31, has been hampered with injuries his entire career including calf, head, ankle, and toe ailments.

Even with constantly catching the injury bug, Cannon was a second-team All-Pro in 2016, most notably shutting down Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller that season.

The elephant in the room is the question of replacing Cannon’s production.

The only man listed behind Cannon on the depth chart on the team’s website is Korey Cunningham acquired via trade from the Arizona Cardinals.

Cunningham was inactive for opening night however the team could turn to another acquisition.

Former Baltimore Ravens Guard Jermaine Eluemunor whom the Patriots traded a sixth-round pick for, has experience at both guard and tackle dating back to his Texas A&M days.

The Patriots face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
