Update: Butler Signs Highly-Anticipated Tender With Patriots

It’s about time.

New England Patriots star cornerback Malcolm Butler has officially signed a first-round tender with the Patriots worth $3.19 million.

Prior to the signing, per report, the only team talking contract with Butler was the New Orleans Saints. Apparently, Butler had been “frustrated” with the way New England had been handling his contract. According to Butler’s agent, “he isn’t asking for the moon.”

This benefits the Patriots as they are missing both their first and second-round picks. The Patriots dealt their 32nd pick in the draft to the Saints for wide receiver Brandin Cooks and traded the 64th selection to the Carolina Panthers for defensive end Kony Ealy. The Patriots can now trade Butler, if they so choose, in hopes of getting back into the first or second round.

If that doesn’t work out, there is nothing to fret dear Patriots fans. This is a deep draft class, oh, there is also the best coach in the NFL in Belichick, he’ll find a way to use the dark side of the force to spring something up.
