UMass Lowell dropped to 1-5 over its past six games with a 76-73 loss to Central Connecticut State on Saturday.
With 1:29 remaining, UML’s Ryan Jones stepped to the line with a chance to even the score. However, he was only able to get one free throw to go, as CCSU’s Tyler Kohl hauled down the board and went coast to coast, extending its lead to 74-71.

The River Hawks would counter with a Jahad Thomas layup, bringing them within one, 74-73, with 65 seconds left. On the Blue Devil’s next trip down the court, Austin Nehls would come up empty on a 3-pointer, but Eric Bowles was there for the offensive rebound, forcing UML to eventually foul Nehls.
After one make, the River Hawks, trailing 75-73, would turn the ball over with six seconds remaining, all but squashing their comeback chances.
Kohl’s free throw made it a 76-73 contest, and that’s where it would stand.
CCSU shot 50 percent to UML’s 42.6 in the win.
Next up for UML is a trip to Wisconsin to battle the Badgers (6-7) next Saturday at 4 p.m.
