While Harvard may have only connected on two of 20 3-pointers Wednesday, Seth Towns made sure he hit the one that it needed.

With nine seconds remaining, and Fordham clinging to a 45-44 lead, the sophomore drilled a trey from the left wing – to cap late 8-0 run – lifting the Crimson over the Rams, 47-45, on Wednesday.

With 2:35 to go, Fordham’s Joseph Chartouny connected a 3-pointer to extend the Rams’ lead to 45-39, but that would be all they’d get down the stretch.

A pair of Fordham misses and a turnover led to a 5-0 Harvard run – fueled by three points and an assist from Bryce Aiken – over the next 2:17 to make it a 45-44 game.

With 18 ticks to go, and out of a Harvard timeout, the Rams would cough the ball up again and Towns would make them pay from deep, giving Harvard its first lead of the game, 47-45.

One last heave by the Rams’ Will Tavares found come up short, as Harvard held on.

Aiken paced the Crimson, which shot just 33.3 percent from the field, attack with 15 points.

Harvard improved to 1-5 away from home.

More Money, More Problems.

I took a casual poll on whether or not college athletes should be paid or compensated when their respective university uses their image or likeness. The results were not as I expected. Out of about 100 people who responded, 72 of them said that college athletes should not be paid. This sample included people who had played and who were passionate about college athletics, people who were recently out of college and people who have been graduated for a long time. I personally voted that they should be compensated for their image being used for marketing or recruiting and in a way, they are with scholarships. But we all know that scholarships can only help so much.
