Tom Brady has undoubtedly cemented his legacy as one of the greatest, if not the greatest quarterback of all time. However, no matter how many more touchdowns he throws or Super Bowls he wins, the next question that everyone will be asking is, “What’s next?” That question was answered for everyone yesterday. News broke that Brady will be joining Fox as an analyst on their team. More often than not, the network chooses to make a splash in the sports world. They did just that by bringing Brady on board.

The Details

As football fans saw earlier this offseason, Brady retired and then un-retired. It’s not shocking Brady chose to immediately reenter the world of football, considering his production over the past few seasons. Although he is returning to the league for another season, his playing days are numbered. Fox recognized that and took full advantage of the opportunity, nabbing Brady for a lucrative deal. The rumored contract is said to be 10 years and up to $375 million. That’s more than the quarterback has made in his entire career.

As mentioned, Fox likes to take advantage of a situation whenever possible. With Troy Aikman and Joe Buck leaving them for ESPN, it was time for Fox to get back on top. It is an eerily similar vibe to when they paid John Madden a hefty chunk of change to be their face. Brady has the potential to take on a new gig and become the greatest in the world at something once again. The fun part could be watching him prove all of his doubters wrong once again.

The Career

Looking at Brady’s stats and Super Bowl rings, most fans know by now that he is in the G.O.A.T conversation. Thus far in his career, he has logged a stat line of 84,520 passing yards, 624 touchdowns, and a quarterback rating of 97.6. These mind-boggling numbers get even crazier: 3,039 passing yards and 21 touchdowns have all come in the Super Bowl. The most important stat is that his fingers can almost all be covered in rings, as he has won seven Super Bowls.

Brady has captivated the sports world and changed the outlook people have on the game. By consistently proving critics wrong year in and year out, he has demonstrated that it’s possible to have a very long career in the league. It has inspired players in the league, as well as generations of future players. Having someone like this playing the game makes it easy to tell no player should be taken for granted. The game may be entertainment for the fans, but this is their livelihood. Brady has made a great life out of it.

The Future

As Brady enters another season under center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the questions, critiques, and slander will be thrown all over him. Now having accepted an offer with Fox, fans will look at his season and always reflect on if it was worth Brady coming out of retirement. If there is one thing football fans know, it’s to never count Brady out. No matter who is on his team, who the coach or opponent is, fans know Brady is coming to play. Look for him to do the same thing as the face of Fox Sports in the coming years.
