Three Possible Trades for the Tennessee Titans

Three Possible Trades for the Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans sit atop of the AFC South Division with a record of 5-1. The team is looking to make a second-straight playoff appearance, with the hope that they can go further than the AFC Championship Game. As the trade deadline approaches, they are likely to be buyers.

Trade #1: 2021 second-round pick to the New England Patriots for Stephon Gilmore

The Titans are in desperate need of secondary help. The defensive backfield is still waiting for Adoree Jackson to make his season debut; he is still recovering from a knee injury. The defensive front has yet to be as good as advertised with the additions of Jadeveon Clowney and Vic Beasley, but they look better and better with each passing week.

There is no better way to address the secondary needs than acquiring the reigning Defensive Player of the Year in Gilmore. While Tennessee is looking like a Super Bowl contender to this point, the Patriots (if not for being in the same division as the only winless team) could be fighting just to stay out of last place.

Prior to this past offseason, Tennessee was more often than not the next home for many ex-Patriots players, before Tampa Bay and Miami entered the fray.

Trade #2: Corey Davis and 2021 third-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons for Julio Jones

After the team declined to pick up Davis’ fifth-year option before the season started, the No. 5 overall pick in 2017 has looked like the guy they were hoping to get when they drafted him. The Atlanta Falcons look to be gearing up for a rebuild, with Jones and Matt Ryan rumored to be on the trading block.

Draft capital and a young receiver would be a great start for that rebuild. Though the Titans pass-catchers are solid, the chance to add a player like Jones is a no-brainer, even if he has lost a step or two. The likelihood of Davis walking at year’s end makes him the added piece that the Falcons may like in return.

Trade #3: 2021 third-round pick and 2021 fourth-round pick for Cameron Erving

The Titans lost Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan to a torn ACL less than two weeks ago. For a team that relies heavily on the running game, they need a proven player to fill the void.

The Cowboys are not opposed to trading away players that they acquired not long ago, as they proved with the Everson Griffen trade. Their season has not gone as they hoped thus far, after losing Dak Prescott for the remainder of the year. Erving, who was a member of the Chiefs Super Bowl team last season, has experience in all five offensive line positions. He would still be valuable to Tennessee next season when Lewan returns.
