Lately, there’s been a lot of talk about Real Madrid possibly acquiring both Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. As far as a move to Real Madrid goes, in Mbappé’s case, discussions have gone on for nearly three years. For Haaland, he has been linked with several big European clubs for a possible move. Haaland and Mbappé are two young and very talented players with very bright futures. Both have already amassed an impressive list of accomplishments and they’ll soon be ready for the next chapter of their career.

Mbappé has already turned down several offers to stay with Paris Saint-Germain, including an offer that would keep him with the club until 2024 and pay him €45 million per year. Real Madrid made a €200 million offer to PSG to acquire Mbappé only to be rejected. As far as Haaland goes, he has expressed his desire to play for a Spanish club. It’s unclear if Real Madrid and Haaland’s current club Borussia Dortmund are in discussions to work out a deal to send Haaland to the Spanish capital.

A duo of Mbappé and Haaland is great but risky

Real Madrid is already loaded with talent. It’s never a good idea to overload a roster filled with tremendous talent. Los Blancos already have the likes of Karim Benzema, Vinicius Júnior., Rodrygo, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and many more.

Bringing in both Mbappé and Haaland could be very risky and here’s why; First, Haaland would not be willing to move to Madrid only to find himself as a backup to Benzema. In addition, relegating Benzema to a backup role is the worse thing for Real Madrid to do, considering Benzema is still in top form. Haaland intends to be a starter, but so does Benzema. Second, Los Blancos have groomed the likes of Vini Jr. and Rodrygo to be the future of the club, so keeping them on the bench and omitting them from playing time creates more chaos for the club. Although Rodrygo has spent most of his time with Los Blancos as a substitute, his future is unclear as it’s unknown where and how he fits in the club’s future plans.

Perhaps it’s safe to say that Real Madrid has a roster overloaded enough as it is. No doubt, they’re going to have to figure out ways to straighten things out in order to utilize their expensive talent to the best of their ability.
