The Giannis to HEAT rumors are picking up

Welcome to the NBA offseason, where rumors happen. Some rumors end up being true and some don’t. The latest NBA rumor brings up the possibility of Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded to the Miami Heat before the end of next season. This latest report comes from Ashley Nicole of iHeart radio.

According to Nicole, Antetokounmpo is ready to sign a long-term deal with the Heat. Since Giannis will enter free agency in 2021, the deal might occur before that because the Bucks don’t want to end up empty-handed. She also adds that Heat guard Tyler Herro would be traded in this scenario. Miami’s two all-stars Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are the only untouchables in any potential deals for Giannis.

Giannis is eligible for a supermax extension, which could be worth $247.3 million over five years. Even if he doesn’t sign the extension, it’s already been reported that the Milwaukee Bucks won’t trade the two-time MVP. It’s still unlikely that stance will change. The Bucks still have championship aspirations.

It does, however, open the door for Giannis to join the Heat in 2021 as a free agent. If Adebayo doesn’t sign his extension this off-season, Miami will have an open max slot to sign Giannis. They’ll also keep most of their young core players. This would be the most preferred route.

All in all, these next couple of months are going to be very interesting. Unless Giannis signs his extension, the rumors will only get louder. And talks of Giannis leaving Milwaukee will pick up steam unless he wins a championship.
