Georgia Bulldogs’ Tight End Darnell Washington was seen in Charlotte, North Carolina (where the Carolina Panthers are located). What could this mean for the Panthers in terms of the Draft? Could the Panthers draft a tight end? If Carolina did draft Darnell Washington?

What Does This Mean for Carolina’s Draft?

In the first round, Scott Fritterer will likely draft either Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud with the first overall pick (they got from the Chicago Bears). The Panthers have an early second-round (Pick 39) that could be Darnell Washington, depending on how the meeting today goes.

Could the Panthers Draft a Tight End?

Carolina did sign Hayden Hurst to a three-year 21.75 million dollar. The Panthers could draft Washington to add depth to a weak thigh end room (With Hurst, Ian Thomas, and Tommy Tremble). Washington is one of the top Tight End prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft class.

If Carolina Did Draft Darnell Washington?

Suppose Carolina did add Washington to Frank Reich‘s offense. The Panthers’ offense would be DJ Chark, Adam Thielen, Miles Sanders, Hurst, and possibly Washington for Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud to throw to. For a Rookie quarterback, that’s an Ideal situation compared to the Houston Texans (who hold the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft) situation in terms of pass catchers.
