C.J. Stroud, Texans Bengals NFL Football Week 10 Preview

The up-and-coming Houston Texans travel to Cincinnati to face a red-hot Bengals team looking to make another push at a Super Bowl appearance.

C.J. Stroud is taking the NFL by storm. The No. 2 pick went 30-for-42 with 470 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions in Week 9 versus the Tampa Bay Bucs. Not only did he set the rookie record for most passing yards in a single game, but his 147.8 QB rating was also the highest by a rookie (minimum 30 attempts) in NFL history.

Needless to say, the DeMeco Ryans era has started with a bang. When you look at Stroud in addition to the young talent on the roster (Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Will Anderson, Derek Stingley Jr., Jalen Pitre, and Christian Harris), there’s a big reason for Texans fans to get excited.

Sunday’s game against Cincinnati will be the biggest test of Stroud and Ryan’s careers. The Bengals are beginning to look like the team we expected them to be prior to Joe Burrow‘s injury, and Stroud being going toe-to-toe with someone who has dismantled Josh Allen is must-see TV.

While Houston’s defense has young pieces, they aren’t at the level of stopping Burrow yet. Burrow is coming off his fourth straight game with two-plus touchdowns and leads the NFL in completion percentage and QBR. The Bengals will be looking to extend their winning streak to five following this weekend.

What To Watch For

C.J. Stroud versus Joe Burrow is a matchup for the ages. The rookie has been on a true heater, and he’s put up a real fight against other top teams like Baltimore and Jacksonville. Don’t be surprised if the Texans upset the Bengals; the Stroud wagon will be full steam ahead if that happens.
