Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Tennessee Titans: Recap and Highlights

The Buccaneers faced the Titans on Sunday, Oct. 27 in Week 8 of the 2019 NFL season. Here is a recap and highlight reel from the game.

The Buccaneers entered this game off their bye week while the Titans came off a hard-fought win against the Chargers. To open, the Titans won the toss and deferred. The Buccaneers got the ball and were aided by a 43-yard pass interference penalty. The Titans’ defense would hold them to a Matt Gay 22-yard field goal.

Buccaneers 3-0

The Titans would proceed to go three and out. However, on the second play after the Bucs got the ball back, Jameis Winston fumble the snap and the Titans recovered. Ryan Tannehill connected with tight end Jonnu Smith for a touchdown.

Titans 7-3

The teams swapped punts, and then Jameis Winston got the ball back, but his second-down pass was intercepted by Malcolm Butler. Butler returned the pick to the Tampa Bay six-yard line. On third down, Tannehill found receiver Tajae Sharpe in the end zone.

Titans 14-3

Matt Gay would make a 48-yard field goal on the next drive.

Titans 14-6

After the Titans went three and out, the Buccaneers’ drive stalled. Matt Gay was good from 24 yards out.

Titans 14-9

The Titans’ next drive stalled after Tannehill fumbled on a sack by Shaquil Barrett. The Titans recovered, though, and Cody Parkey would make a 51-yard field goal.

Titans 17-9

With under two minutes to go in the half, Winston drove his team down the field, connecting with Mike Evans four times on the drive. The final play was a nine-yard touchdown. The Bucs would unsuccessfully attempt to go for two.

Titans 17-15 at halftime

Derrick Henry lost a fumble on the first drive of the second half. Four plays later, Winston would find Evans again for a two-yard touchdown. This time, the two-point try was good.

Buccaneers 23-17

After exchanging punts, the Titans’ drive ended with Cody Parkey hitting a 42-yard field goal.

Buccaneers 23-20

The Titans’ defense forced a punt. Tannehill drove his team 90 yards in 12 plays, finding A.J. Brown for an eight-yard touchdown.

Titans 27-23

Titans linebacker Harold Landry would get a strip sack on Winston on the next drive, but the Titans would fail on fourth down. Tampa Bay would also fail on fourth down after a nine-play drive. The Titans were forced to punt the ball back with 44 seconds left, giving the Bucs one last chance. However, Titans cornerback Logan Ryan would soon seal the game with an interception of Winston.

FINAL: Titans 27, Buccaneers 23

The win moves the Titans to .500 (4-4) and right back into the AFC South race. They travel to Carolina to take on Christian McCaffrey and the Panthers in Week 9. The loss drops the Buccaneers to 2-5 as they travel to Seattle to take on Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.
