With the first weekend in February officially upon us, the NHL All-Star break is here. No games are scheduled until Monday as players take the trip down to Las Vegas to participate in the festivities.
This week found the New York Rangers at the end of their five-game road trip, with the San Jose Sharks and the Philadelphia Flyers as their opponents.
The New York Rangers are on fire. In a week that should have given the New York Rangers and their fans four home games, sadly, they only got three. Thanks to COVID, the game against the New York Islanders was postponed.
The San Jose Sharks have done everything they can to avoid using the word “rebuild” when talking about changes to the team. However, it’s not hard to forget that the Sharks have missed the playoffs for the past two seasons, and changes were coming one way or another.
San Jose acquired a plethora of picks in the 2021 draft, taking nine players last month in hopes of sparking their minor league rosters with an abundance of skaters. The Sharks displayed their desperate need for forward depth, adding 5 to the organizations’ roster, as well as a goaltender for the first time in three years, with their second selection.
