The Chicago Cubs have had a mixed bag of success with their recent drafts. This year they mixed in a variety of college and high schoolers as well as a fairly even distribution of position players and pitchers.
Leading up to the draft, three names kept coming up in expert’s mocks for the Chicago White Sox first-round pick: Colson Montgomery, Max Muncy, and Wes Kath. Things could not have worked out better for the White Sox; Montgomery fell to them in the first round and Kath lasted to the second.
It’s obvious that the Yankees really struggled way below expectations in the first half. When the pitching was on, they lacked clutch hitting, and vice versa. In the MLB Draft, they focused on several positions that will help them add depth. Their farm system has been really strong this year and has gotten even stronger with the selections they made.
