The Chicago Cubs have had a mixed bag of success with their recent drafts. This year they mixed in a variety of college and high schoolers as well as a fairly even distribution of position players and pitchers.
After selling at the past few deadlines, the Giants are back in the market as buyers—and they might wind up being big-time aggressive. With the best record in all of baseball, it is imperative that the Giants address areas of weakness to reduce the threat of losing ground.
Since their World Series victory in 2016, the Cubs have made the playoffs three out of four seasons but won just one series. The team went from long-time lovable losers to a team that was a legitimate underachiever.
It’s incredible that the Chicago White Sox have played so well in 2021 considering all their injuries. Rick Hahn, the White Sox general manager, is aggressive when it comes to trades. He has built the team up over the years to get to the position they are in now.
The 2021 MLB Trade Deadline is set for July 30, a date that’s much different than what it was in 2020. It’s a return to normalcy. Still, the sharp increase in players on the IL compared to past years is bound to add a fascinating twist to the equation.
Entering the 2021 season, there were not postseason expectations for the Chicago Cubs. It would be the last dance for their three stars in Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, and Anthony Rizzo together. Then, the worst thing happened for Hoyer and company: The Cubs actually started the season by winning games.
