The AMA Pro Motocross tilt shifts back to California for the final two rounds of the year. Saturday would feature a return to Fox Raceway in Pala which opened up the season back in late May.
The east coast slate of the AMA Motocross schedule came to a close on Saturday. Ironman MX, which had been the season finale from 2015 to 2019, played host to the third to last round in 2021.
Last week it was Ken Roczen and Jett Lawrence bringing home the Honda sweep at Unadilla. This week the pair looked to capitalize on that momentum in their individual title races at Budds Creek.
The final leg of AMA Pro Motocross begun on Saturday with the Unadilla National. Points leaders Dylan Ferrandis of Star Yamaha looked to preserve a nearly full round points lead over Ken Roczen. His 250 teammate Justin Cooper meanwhile needed to regain momentum, coming off a disastrous Moto 2 at Washougal.
Millville is a consistently great presence on the AMA Pro Motocross schedule and 2021 was no different. A pair of first-time winners this season highlighted some spectacular racing on one of the world’s premier tracks in Minnesota. On top of a change at the top of the 250 pecking order, and an injury scare for a 450 title contender averted with a strong Moto 2.
