After a career year in 2019, Marcus Semien struggled to find his footing in the shortened 2020 season. Semien played in all 162 games in 2019. He combined superb defense and a strong bat to place third in American League MVP voting. With that in mind, let’s take a look at his market this offseason.
There is no doubt that Major League Baseball (MLB) is one of the most-awaited sports leagues around the world. Aside from being the oldest major professional sport, it is also the second wealthiest sport just behind the National Football League (NFL). Here are some of MLB’s top free agents:
The Baltimore Orioles finished the 2020 season 25-35, one game ahead of the Boston Red Sox for last place in the American League East. Although the season wasn’t great, it was certainly a step forward for the O’s after losing over 100 games the last two seasons. What do they need to do to push the rebuild along?
The Los Angeles Angels finished the 2020 regular season with their fifth consecutive losing season and sixth straight year without reaching the postseason. It helps us narrow down our research and eliminate overlooking good match-ups. With that said, you still never know what is going to happen. That is the beauty of sports. That is the beauty of baseball. Anything can and most likely will happen. But that shouldn’t stop us from trying to predict how the games will go. Here are some guys in good spots that I’ll be using as Core Plays tonight.
After trading Eric Sogard to Tampa Bay on Sunday, Toronto wasted no time in calling up über-prospect Bo Bichette, who was actually pulled from the Triple-A game he was playing for Buffalo.
Such was Toronto’s anxiety to get its last shinning youngin’ to the Majors, and such should be yours to make him available to suitors in case you happen to have him in your fantasy team or are still able to acquire him in case he’s still free out there.
While they are certainly overachieving this year, only being 1.5 games behind the Phillies for the second wild card, even after losing Patrick Corbin and A.J. Pollock to free agency, among others, and trading away Paul Goldschmidt, the Diamondbacks could have been great. They could have been serious World Series contenders for years. Yes, I will go that far. Even if they sneak into the playoffs this year, they probably won’t go very far.
