NFL Roundtable: 2019 First Quarter Edition

The 2019 NFL season is already a quarter of the way finished and team’s identity are starting to shape into form. At this point, there are only three undefeated teams left in the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and surprisingly the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, there are six winless teams and almost half the league is sitting at 2-2. If this course continues, the playoff race will be as exciting as ever, but what have we learned over the first quarter of the season? The Scorecrow family has put together another roundtable giving you their opinions on five NFL questions. Be sure to follow all the writers on twitter and ask any questions you may have regarding their answers. Without any further ado, let’s get into it.

The Recurring Problem: Who Vontaze Burfict Is

Vontaze Burfict has developed a reputation across the NFL as a head-hunter. He has previously been suspended six games for multiple instances of “unnecessary roughness” or illegal hits to the head. This time, he’s done for the season. We’ll get to this instance a bit later, but before we do, let’s take a look at his past.

NFL Power Rankings: Week Three

There was a lot movement in my rankings this week but that is a result of it still being early in the season and still finding out the identity of teams. The Giants are the biggest movers this week as they moved up nine spots with the play of Daniel Jones.

2019 Fantasy Football Week Two: IDP Report

Well, week one has come and gone. While some games were close and others blowouts, on the defensive side of the ball, players started to stand out and make a mark right off the bat for their teams. In a review of last week’s edition, we saw the unfortunate injury bug claim Johnathan Allen after playing only seven snaps when he injured his knee. Richard Sherman though shined with five tackles, four solos, two pass deflections and an interception for a pick-six! Zach Cunningham has five tackles against New Orleans and my sleeper pick of Jerome Baker logged eight tackles, just shy of making the double-digit mark. Going into week two the matchups are looking juicy for these guys listed below!

NFL DFS: Cash Game Plays for Week 1 (Kickoff Sunday)

Well, this is it. This is what we’ve all been waiting for. NFL football is back baby! Of course, we had the Chicago versus Green Bay game on Thursday night to kick off the season, but that was simply a tease. A low scoring defensive battle with one touchdown over the course of the game. Sure, it was a good football game (not the outcome I wanted being a Bears fan), but not at all what fantasy players were hoping for either. There will be a lot more action and points today, guaranteed. Cash games have been an area we can find an edge when it pertains to daily fantasy football. Every year new players jump aboard the always rolling DFS train. Luckily for you, most of the new players will be applying what they know about season-long fantasy into DFS. That’s not a terrible strategy, but it can lead to bad habits or skipping over important details. By putting in the extra effort and taking in as much as you can, you’re already winning. With all of that said, let’s kick off this season the right way. Take a stroll with me and look at some options to target for Week 1 DFS Cash Games.
