Thursday’s MLB schedule opens up with three-afternoon games followed by six evening contests. The afternoon tilts feature premium pitching options in Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer at home while the evening games offer up the potential of lots of scoring with Texas/ Oakland, 9.5 implied total, Cleveland/ Kansas City, 10.5, and New York/ Boston, 11. Stream Machine: May 3-5

Unlike the beginning of the season, I’ve begun to keep a spreadsheet of my pitching matchup’s performances as of Monday. The previous three top options performed, shall we say, strangely at best, with Mike Soroka pitching masterfully and Sandy Alcantara and Felix Pena not so much, although Pena did sneak away with a win. To be honest, the entire pitching landscape has been strange so far this season, with rumors swirling of the ball being juiced again. It’s hard to say how we should take these findings, but hopefully, in the stretch of the full season, these starts will look better than they currently seem. Now, on to the weekend matchups!

Stream Machine: April 19-21

After some time away to reconfigure the Stream Machine for in-season matchup data (as well as taking some time off for personal reasons), I’m ready to roll out some new streaming options for the weekend matchups. As I promised earlier, I will do a check in at the end of the month in order to show the kind of stats you can get from your streaming starters. It’s important to remember that this is a season-long project, and early season streaming options are hard to figure out, as we don’t have a representative sample of in-season data until later on.
