Merrifield has been one of the lone bright spots for the Kansas City Royals. He has been sitting at an above-average WAR his whole career and is improving his defense. He has that .300 BA and 20 HR capabilities at the dish as well. He is also a great base runner. He stole 43 bases last season and 34 the year before that.
Before the season began, Bryan Reynolds was not expected to make a major impact in Pittsburgh until next year. The Pirates were deep in the outfield after adding Lonnie Chisenhall on a one year deal. So far things have not gone as planned as Chisenhall has yet to appear in a game. Injuries, however, have given Reynolds an opportunity and he has shined. The former top prospect has not only been an offensive force but one of the majors best rookies.

They enjoyed a brief run of success from 2013-15 with three consecutive wild-card berths, but overall this front office has been a complete disaster, especially in the last three years. Huntington has firmly established himself as the worst GM in baseball.
When Josh Bell first made his MLB debut three years ago, the expectations were sky high. Bell was supposed to anchor the Pirates lineup for years to come and contributed right away. After hitting a career-high twenty-six home runs in 2017 Bell only hit twelve last year. He was inconsistent at times and failed to be the Pirates power threat on a team in dire need. In the second half, however, Bell improved providing hope for the future. He has carried that success into 2019 in dominating fashion. His start is even more impressive considering the adversity this team has already faced.

Even without the Harper signing, the Phillies have had one of the best off-seasons in recent memory, signing one of the best hitting catchers in the game, while also adding some clarity to their bullpen. And it doesn’t stop there.
