Manchester United is fighting tooth and nail in their 2020-2021 Premier League campaign. The Red Devils are on a three-game winning streak in Premier League play and are on top of their group in Champions League play. As usual, it hasn’t been easy for them, but Edinson Cavani certainly has been a beacon of excitement.

Cavani arrived at Old Trafford in early October. He wouldn’t see any action until October 24th, coming off the bench in Manchester United’s 0-0 tie against Chelsea. On November 7th, he would score his first goal for the Red Devils in a 3-1 road win against Everton. In Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Southampton, he came off the bench, scoring two goals, to help the Red Devils overcome a 2-0 deficit.

So far, he has three goals in eight appearances. In addition, Cavani is the second player to score at least three goals in Premier League play as a substitute.

Should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Consider Starting Cavani?

So far Cavani has only one start since his arrival at Old Trafford. He started in Manchester United’s Champions League group match against Istanbul Basaksehir, which the Red Devils won 4-1.

He has made a significant difference in each game he’s appeared in. With the struggles of Anthony Martial, it may be a wise decision to start Cavani now. Martial has yet to score in Premier League play and is failing to make an impact.

Despite not seeing much action, Cavani is doing his part well. In other words, he’s showing that Manchester United made a good move by signing him. So far, he’s been able to come up clutch and that’s what the club needs from a player.

At this point, a change has to be strongly considered. It’s time to see what Edinson Cavani can do as a full-time starter.
