MLB: Chicago White Sox -1.5 (-115) vs. Detroit Tigers, 8:10 p.m. EDT

We’re taking the run line on this one, as I’m expecting a cruise to victory for the Southsiders. The ML is sitting at -210, and while that’s a safe play with Lance Lynn on the mound the run line enables heavy-hitters to play two units on the matchup.

Lynn is 6-1 with a sparking 1.20 ERA and 0.91 WHIP and has been in control of nearly every start in 2021. He was pulled after just 84 pitches on Saturday in order to start yesterday’s contest on short rest. Instead, thanks to a rainout Lynn gets the extra rest day and will be ready to go tonight against a woeful Tigers offense scoring just 3.71 runs/game (second-to-last in the majors).

Book it: CHW -1.5 runs (-115)

MLB: Chicago Cubs at San Francisco Giants o8.5 (-115), 9:45 p.m. EDT

The Cubs’ Zach Davies has improved of late but spent the better part of April with an ERA hovering around 10.00 and is averaging just 4.2 innings per start on the season. Giants pitcher Anthony DeSclafani started 2021 off with a bang but has now allowed nearly as many runs (19) as he has strikeouts (24) in the month of May, en route to a 2-2 record and a 5.58 ERA.

Meanwhile, San Francisco is averaging 4.75 runs/game in 2021 (good for ninth in the majors) and the Cubs scoring sits just below at 11th, scoring 4.64 per affair. Something has got to give and it’s not going to be the bats.

Book it: SF/CHC over 8.5 runs (-115)

NBA: Phoenix Suns (+115) at Los Angeles Lakers, 10:30 p.m. EDT

In a game nearly everyone will be watching, the Suns will try to put away a battered Los Angeles in their postseason matchup.

Phoenix took it to the Lake Show to the tune of 30 points in Game 5. LeBron James is 4-1 in his last five games following a 30-plus point loss, but he’s had a down series, averaging (for him) a miniscule 22.2 PPG. Of course, the big question is whether Anthony Davis (groin) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (knee) will play, as they are both game-time decisions.

This is as close to a gimme as you’ll ever get from an LBJ-led team. He simply cannot do it on his own, and even if his teammates play, those nagging injuries are going to catch up to them.

The Suns are getting two points, but at -110 that’s not the sound bet. If the Lakers pull this off, it’ll be with everyone playing and will likely go over a margin of two. The money line is where it’s at and no one would blame you for taking it.

Book it: Suns ML +115

It’s thirsty Thursday. Crack open your favorite beverage and let’s make some money. Best of luck.
