Thanksgiving’s over, the leftovers are gone, and your black Friday shopping is over. So, what do you do now? Easy—grab a spot on the couch and get settled in for the biggest day of college football this year.
I may not be the biggest college football fan, but today is a great day for all fans of football. How can you not enjoy 10 straight hours of high flying, energetic football? Today, a win for any team means a lot more, and it tastes a lot sweeter.
Michigan versus Ohio State, Alabama versus Auburn, and Notre Dame versus USC. These legendary programs all battle again today, with so much more than a College Football Playoff berth on the line.
We’re also going to get to see South Carolina versus Clemson, LSU versus Texas A&M, and Syracuse versus Boston College. These are all games with good teams, historic rivalries, and many, many players and coaches that will we be seeing in the National Football League next year.
Today marks a day full of history, tradition, passion, and glory. These rivalries lasted longer than lifetimes and have the ability to draw out emotions in players, coaches, and fans that no one has ever seen.
50 years from today, when these players wake up to watch their team on rivalry day, it won’t matter whether they won a Heisman, got drafted in the first round, or when on to break records. On this day, they’ll wake up and say “We beat Michigan”, “We beat ND”, or “We beat Alabama.”
These rivalries are what makes college football what it is. Today, emotions will ride high, seniors will bid their farewells, and a rivalry will be settled—at least until next November.
